Term 1 - Week 9 2025
Principal & Deputy Principals Message

Dear Families,
As we continue our Lenten journey towards Easter, it is an opportunity to reflect on the relationships we have with self, others, creation and God. Pope Francis calls us to journey together in hope, thinking about situations in our lives, either with our families or the places where we work and spend our time, where we are capable of walking together with others, listening to them and not thinking only of our own needs.
We have recently announced our Year 6 student leaders for 2025, these are children who have shown an interest in leading our school in the areas of Mission, Service, Ecology, Arts, Communication or as House Captains. As a school community we are grateful for their leadership and look forward to working with them throughout the year.
As we reflect on the role leaders play in our lives, we would like to acknowledge the extraordinary impact Fr Shibu has had on our school and Parish over the past 12 years. Fr Shibu is preparing to return home to India for a new role after Easter this year. Our school will be thanking Fr Shibu with a whole school Mass on Thursday April 10. All welcome.
Finally, can we please remind all families that our school grounds open at 8:30am and all children need to be collected by 3:25pm. Children still on site after this time will be taken to our OSHC Service. Thank you for your cooperation.
Take care,
Dan Cowan, Principal & Michelle Thomas, Deputy Principal

FR SHIBU
It has recently been announced that our much-loved Parish Priest, Fr Shibu Jacob will be leaving St Augustine’s Parish to return to India. He has been in the Salisbury Parish for 12 years and has been recalled back to India to pursue other ministries. As a Parish School, we are indebted to Fr Shibu for his caring vision, his calm and measured commitment to our community and his ability to connect with our families.
Fr Shibu is highly respected. Whoever knows him, speak of his deep respect of all people. He always responds in a practical way to problems and is a wonderful example of care and compassion for all.
Our children always enjoy attending Mass when he is the celebrant. He has a special gift of helping children understand the message of the Gospels and delights in being part of our Parish school. Fr Shibu has been our anchor and our strength since 2013. We extend our blessings to him for the future and know that God has a plan for him. He will be sorely missed.

There will be a whole school Mass to farewell Fr Shibu on Thursday 10 April at 9.30am in the St Augustine Church. All are welcome!

Year 6 Aquatics Adventure
The term, one of our standout moments was our excursion to West Lakes. Our cohort spent an action-packed day on the water, learning essential water safety skills while taking part in exciting activities such as kayaking, canoeing, sailing, and team challenges.
The day was filled with laughter, adventure, and new experiences, with students embracing every opportunity to challenge themselves. For those who weren't confident swimmers, it was a game-changing experience proving that everyone could get involved and enjoy the fun. More than just a day on the water, it was a chance to build teamwork, resilience, and unforgettable memories.

Year 6 Teachers
Roma Mitchell Soccer Clinics

On Friday 28 March, our students attended the Roma Cup Soccer Excursion, hosted by Roma Mitchell Secondary College.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to refine their soccer skills through specialised clinics run by Year 12 Soccer Academy students. To cap off the experience, they put their skills into action by competing in a series of exciting 5-a-side games.
A huge shoutout to all the students who gave it their all and displayed fantastic sportsmanship! A special thank you to our staff for making this such a memorable experience!

Sheffield Shield Cricket - Day 1

St Augustine’s Students Attend Sheffield Shield Grand Final at Karen Rolton Reserve
On Wednesday 26 March, 21 students from St Augustine’s Year 3-6 had the exciting opportunity to attend the Sheffield Shield Cricket Grand Final at Karen Rolton Reserve where South Australia took on Queensland. The day was filled with memorable experiences, as students participated in cricket clinics, where they enhanced their skills and learned from experts.
They also had the chance to watch some of the thrilling action of the match, soaking in the atmosphere of top-level cricket. A highlight of the day was meeting several professional cricket players from both teams, who generously signed autographs and engaged with the students.
This fantastic experience was made possible thanks to the support of everyone involved. A big thank you to all for making this day a huge success!
