Term 2 - Week 9 2025
Principal & Deputy Principals Message

Dear Families, Students & Staff,
Over the past three weeks we have welcomed our Little Augustine's for their orientation visits and it has been wonderful to see the excitement and joy on their faces as they begin their time with us at our school. New beginnings can bring various emotions, but as Jesus reminds us, it is also a time for hope, love and peace. We feel truly blessed to welcome them into our community.
As we begin to draw Semester 1 to a conclusion, our teachers have been finalising assessments and preparing reports. The end of semester report provides you with a snapshot of your child’s learning and achievement of the Australian Curriculum and Achievement Standards. For some children where the curriculum is being significantly adjusted, the report format may differ slightly. In this case, your child’s teacher will have contacted you about this.
We place a lot of value on the comment made by teachers which is their opportunity to share their insights across some key learning areas and social and emotional development. We also value face to face discussion with families about learning so we will be offering learning conversations again early in term 3.
There have been so many highlights during the first half of this year: Inside and outside of the classroom: Here at school and out in the broader community. We share these highlights weekly through our school’s social media pages on Facebook and Instagram. Look us up and give a like and follow!
We will be starting term 3 with a pupil free day. These days are critical for staff professional learning and development. They are our only opportunity to have all staff onsite. Our teachers are spending this time focusing on assessment of literacy and numeracy across the whole school. Our curriculum and admin ESOs will be working with a facilitator to continue building on positive workplace culture, emotional intelligence and the biology of stress.
Once again, thank you for your continued support of our wonderful school and community.

Blessed Carlo Acutis: a First Class Relic
On Thursday, June 19, our children were fortunate to view a First Class Relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis. This Relic was a small sample of his hair and seeing it made it more real for many of the children. Blessed Carlo will be made a Saint on September 7 and it will be a wonderful occasion to celebrate. Many of our children have made a special connection with Blessed Carlo and this is evidenced through the many prayers they have written to him since.
All prayers will be sent to the town of Assisi where Blessed Carlo’s body is interred.

The children were exemplary during the exhibition in the Parish Family Centre and a credit to you all during the Parish Mass the next day. You can be very of them indeed as they showed reverence and respect during the Mass.

Vinnies Winter Appeal
The Year 6 Mission Leaders have organised a Vinnies Winter Appeal for our school community. On Thursday July 3, the children will be asked to wear their pyjamas or a trackie pants and top to school. They are invited to bring non-perishable foods such as canned/tinned foods and other food items that will not go off. They are also invited to bring along warm, new item such as beanies, glove, scarves and anything else that will keep the cold away. Please support this very important event that is happening next week.

Northern Cluster Basketball Carnival

On Friday, June 13, a group of our students represented St Augustine’s Parish School at the annual Northern Cluster Basketball Carnival.
It was a fantastic day where both our boys’ and girls’ teams displayed great sportsmanship, teamwork and determination throughout the day. Our girls' team finished in an outstanding 2nd place, narrowly missing out on the top spot in the final. Our Boys' team also performed brilliantly, securing a well-deserved 3rd place in a tough and competitive draw.
A huge thank you to Mr. M and Mr. Marko for coaching our teams. Special thanks as well to all our students as well as the families who came along to support. Well done all!

Wakakirri 2025

Wakakirri 2025
This year, the signature theme for Wakakirri is ‘Mind Over Matter: Tales of Inner Strength’. We have incorporated our school’s important Learner Qualities into our performance this year. We have created our story about a resilient girl who used her courage, curiosity, and inner strength to get through tough times, turning challenges into chances to grow and showing others what it means to never give up.
Our Wakakirri Team have been working hard this term to prepare our story-dance item.
On Wednesday, August 6 (Week 3 Term 3), we will be performing at Norwood Concert Hall. Ticketing information has been provided to families of participating students. Below is the link if you wish to purchase your own ticket and come along.

We will also be having a dress-rehearsal and performing to all students at school on Tuesday, August 5 (Term 3, Week 3) on our new stage.
The Wakakirri cast have been working very hard and are excited for their performance!

Supporting School Readiness Through Playgroup & MAST
Our playgroup continues to be a vital space for children aged 0–5 and their families to connect, learn and grow together. This term, we introduced the MAST (Movement And Storytelling) program—a fun, active initiative that supports children’s motor skills, language development, and social confidence, all of which are key to preparing for school.
Families who attended MAST sessions noticed their children becoming more confident in group settings, and excited to share stories and movement games at home.
Looking ahead, our goal is to embed MAST into our weekly playgroup sessions with a dedicated timeslot—making it a regular and accessible part of the program for all families.
Everyone is welcome each Tuesday & Friday from 9.00am
Accessing early years programs builds stronger foundations for learning, connection and confident transitions to school!

Medical Messages
During Winter there are increased cases of RSV and whopping cough and although they are highly contagious, there are simple ways to reduce the spread. These include, washing hands, covering mouths when coughing and sneezing and staying home to rest if unwell.
If your child needs medication during school hours please see Anita (nurse) or the front office staff for it to be signed in ready to be administered. Medication cannot be kept in school bags, this includes Panadol, Nurofen etc.
Thank you for your co-operation in helping keep our school community safe and healthy
