Principal & Deputy Principals Message

Dear Families,
Thursday was the feast of St Augustine and a special occasion for our school and parish. We celebrated a beautiful Mass and were thrilled to welcome some visitors from St Monica’s school in Walkerville. As a school we are also recognising our 70th year and warmly invite members of the community to join us for our open morning later in the term.
We take this opportunity to think about the importance of special dates and points in time. As we celebrate 70 years of St Augustine’s Parish School, it is also a Jubilee Year of our Catholic Church. The theme for the Jubilee is “Pilgrims of Hope”. We are a hope filled people, and our faith is one of positivity and optimism. We reflect on St Monica and her unwavering hope that her son Augustine would be a man of faith who would have a positive impact on others.
On Wednesday, some of our staff and student leaders attended the feast of St Monica at St Monica’s Parish School. We have formed a connection with this school and community as we learn more about the life of St Augustine and the extraordinary impact his mother, Monica had on him and his life. In our school, we see St Augustine is an example of how prayer and reflection can have an enormous impact on our life. St Augustine made many mistakes in his life and turned to God through prayer, reflection and the unwavering faith of his mother.

In our school, we can use this example of prayer and honest reflection to guide us. We have our school values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence underpinned by Truth. At the end of our feast day, children and staff were gifted a set of rosary beads to remind us to pray and reflect on our actions always.
If we can each show Respect for self, others and the environment; demonstrate Integrity by our actions matching our words; live a life of Service to help those in need; and always strive for Excellence by being our best, then St Augustine’s will continue to be a wonderful school and community for many years to come.
Thank you for all you do in support of our school.
Take care,
Catholic Identity Updates

THE FEAST OF ST AUGUSTINE
Every 28th August, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast Day of St Augustine. We are very proud to bear this Saint’s name as a school and a parish community. Pope Leo, our new Pope, is also an Augustinian priest. Today, our school community celebrated our 70th birthday and the children were wonderful! Despite the heavy intermittent rain, the Mass was celebrated with joy. Unfortunately, our annual Fun Fair that is held after Recess at school had to be postponed to a later date. We will keep you informed about this.
One highlight was the visit of special guests to our school: Ms Rachael De Tullio the APRIM from St Monica’s Parish School, together with 3 of their Year 6 Leaders.
St Monica was St Augustine’s mother. Her Feast Day is the 27th August and ours is the 28th August. It was a wonderful opportunity to host our ‘family’ school during today’s Mass.
ROSARY BEADS
As a way of celebrating our 70th birthday Mass, each child will receive a special gift: glow in the dark Rosary Beads. We hope that they will treasure them and always remember the importance of prayer.
THE SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM
Please note that the workshops scheduled for the weekend: 13 and 14 September in the Family Centre have been cancelled. However, the Presentation Masses for that weekend are still going ahead. Saturday, 13 September at 6.00pm and Sunday, 14 September at 9.00am. Families who have indicated one of these dates will have their child/ren presented to the Parish Community.
A letter will also go home regarding new updates regarding the Sacramental Program. If your child is enrolled in it, please look out for it as it will highlight some changes to the current Program.
SAVE THE DATE: FRIDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2025
On Friday 12 September, the Staff of St Augustine will have their annual Spirituality Day. Please note that this is a Pupil Free Day.

Year 4 Excursion - Thomas More College Musical
A big thank you to Thomas More College for inviting our Year 4 students to their crazy, kooky, mysterious and spooky production of The Addams Family musical!
Thomas More College, located in Salisbury Downs, has a long-standing tradition of excellence in performing arts. Each year, they extend a warm invitation to our students to attend their high-energy, delightfully entertaining productions. It’s a fabulous opportunity for students to experience live theatre — and even better, TMC generously covers all transport and ticket costs.
We’re incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity gifted to us — it’s not every day you get to enjoy a Broadway-style show with absolutely no cost and a whole lot of kook!

Book Week 2025

Last week our school came alive with colour, imagination and the joy of reading as we celebrated Book Week 2025! With a spectacular parade, our students dressed up as their favourite book characters. There were an array of creative costumes ranging from fantasy and magic to adventure and exploration. Our staff also joined in the fun because reading is for everyone!
It is always wonderful to welcome families, and your presence reminds us of the important role families play in fostering a love of reading.
Classrooms buzzed with storytelling and creativity. Students engaged in arts and crafts, author studies and writing workshops. Book Week is more than just a celebration, it is a reminder that books and stories open doors to new worlds, ideas and endless possibilities.
Thank you to all of the students, staff and families for making this year’s book week one to remember!
