Term 4 - Week 3 2025
Principal & Deputy Principals Message

Dear Families,
Term 4 has begun with great enthusiasm and energy, and we have welcomed 6 children and their families to our school community. This feeling of community, as well as our encounters with each other, are what connects us and empowers us. It is through encountering others that we find Jesus. During the school holidays our leadership team travelled overseas and visited the birthplace of St Dominic as well as many of the places where he worked and shared his great faith and belief in God. Throughout this time, we encountered many people, among them Dominican priests, brothers and sisters and through this, our understanding that we are one body, one spirit and connected through our faith, to communities all around the world, became very evident. It is through these encounters that we find who we are and where we are called to serve.
This Friday, 24 October, we celebrate World Teacher’s Day, and we take the time to thank all of our staff for the wonderful contributions that they make each and every day. They are passionate educators, mentors and advocates who inspire curiosity, courage, collaboration, thoughtfulness and respect. They empower every child to reach their fullest potential.
Late last term we celebrated our 70th birthday with an open morning, followed by a fun fair. The children enjoyed a variety of stalls that were organised by our year 4, 5 and 6 classes and during this celebration, raffle tickets were handed out. There have been three lucky winners drawn who will be the Principal, Deputy Principal and APRIM for a morning later in the term. Congratulations to Principal Edward R from 4EP, Deputy Principal Kohen H from 3SC and APRIM Grace E from 1BL.
Finally, a reminder that our kiss and drop area is only open in the morning from 8.30am - 8.50am and after school families need to drive into the Church or Chapel carpark to avoid traffic banking up on Commercial Rd.
Take care,

Multicultural Mass: Sunday 9 November
Our school family is diverse and valued. Each person adds to the richness of our community and we are proud to belong to such an inclusive and accepting school ‘family’.
In recognition of this unity, a special Multicultural Mass will be celebrated in the St Augustine’s Church on Sunday, 9 November at 9.30am. Please note the new time: Mass will start at 9.30am and not at the usual 9.00am Mass.
This Mass will be celebrated together with Holy Family Catholic School and Thomas More College. If you haven’t experienced a Multicultural Mass in the past, please mark the 9 November in your calendar at 9.30am.
Also, everyone attending is encouraged to wear traditional dress from their country of origin. Last year, the children were spectacular!
If you are attending, please bring a plate of food to share with others after Mass in the new Thomas Aquinas Centre. It is big enough to host everyone! The Parishioners will open the Centre at 8.30am and people can bring their shared food plates to the Centre and then go to Mass.
Morning Tea will be from 10.30am to 11.30am and is hosted by the Parish and not by the schools. Empty plates will be collected after the Morning Tea and will be kept in the Parish Family Centre, not in the Thomas Aquinas Centre.
Finally, a request not to wear pointy stiletto heels in the Centre and this will damage our new floor. The rest of the school will be cordoned off with orange bunting so that children are contained to the area outside of the Thomas Aquinas Centre.
We are not expecting children or adults to venture into other parts of our school. Please note that attending adults are responsible for the supervision of their children as the Morning Tea is not a school event and no teacher supervision is available.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Multicultural Mass on Sunday, 9 November at 9.30am!
THOUGHTS:
- God has no favourites.
- Favouritism comes from humans.
- Therefore, God loves all of us equally.
PRAYER: Jesus, you called many people to follow you during your time here on earth. You continue to call us into loving relationships with each other. Help us to do this as you want us to. Bring peace to families and healing to those who need it. Amen.

Sheffield Shield Cricket Excursion

On Thursday 16 October, a group of our students had the opportunity to attend the Sheffield Shield cricket match between South Australia and Queensland at Adelaide Oval.
Students were able to watch top cricketers in action and were given an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the skills, tactics and teamwork involved at an elite level. Throughout the day, students also had time to develop their own skills as they participated in various cricket based activities organised by SACA.
It was a great experience for our keen cricketers. A big thank you goes out to all staff who attended and helped with supervision on the day!

Catholic Schools Music Festival

On Wednesday, 24 September (Week 10, Term 3), our Year 5 and 6 Choir students proudly represented St Augustine’s Parish School at the Catholic Schools Music Festival, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
A record number of 27 students from our school joined more than 20 other Catholic schools from across South Australia on the biggest night of the festival—featuring the largest number of students and schools performing together on stage.
Earlier in the day, our students attended a soundcheck rehearsal at the Convention Centre before returning that evening for the main performance. The venue provided a stunning setting with world-class sound engineering, and the quality of the performance was exceptional—many commented that they had never heard the choir sound so incredible.
Our students’ hard work, commitment, and dedication throughout the past three terms were evident in their outstanding performance. What an unforgettable night of music, talent, and collaboration. A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to them all!
